THERAPEUTIC RIDING
Our therapeutic riding program integrates the teaching of riding skills with therapeutic activities designed specifically for the individual rider with physical and cognitive disabilities. One hour lessons include grooming and tacking the horse with various levels of assistance and a riding lesson incorporating activities that address physical, cognitive, emotional and educational needs of the rider. HRTRC offers small group and private lessons scheduled Monday through Saturday.
Tuition is based on a multi-week session. For example:
6-week session: $165
8-week session: $220
10-week session: $275
Session length and dates can be found on our calendar.
Full or partial scholarships and payment programs may be available. See below for scholarship application form.
Please call or email Polly Cohen, Program Director for questions at pollyc@healingreins.org. After a phone screening, an orientation date will be scheduled. Forms can be downloaded and filled out at any time (see below).
Our equine partner's health and well-being is of utmost importance to us. To protect them from strain, we have established weight limits in relation to a participant's height. Please note those limits:
Under 5’0” tall: 150 lbs
5’ to 5’6” tall: 175 lbs
5’7” to 6’ tall: 200 lbs
6’1” to 6’5” tall: 250 lbs
(Program horse availability determines our ability to accomodate participants over 180 lbs.)
